Directions
We are located in Ocean Beach, in the first building east of the Pier Parking Lot.
We recommend arriving early, as parking by the beach can be challenging, especially in the summer. If the lots are full, free parking can typically be found a few blocks away. (Parking on Newport Avenue is limited to 2 hours most days before 6pm.)
Take Interstate 8 West to the end.
Get in the right lane, and turn Left at the light at the end of the freeway.
Immediately bear Right onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd.
Remain on Sunset Cliffs Blvd for about one mile
Turn Right on Newport Avenue
Follow to the ocean, and park in the Pier Parking lot.
There is an additional parking lot around the corner, by the lifeguard station.
Public parking in Ocean Beach is FREE.
Pier parking lot has a 4-hour limit. If you park on the street there is a two-hour limit on most days before 6pm. (Check signs for details.) You can also park about 2 blocks away from Newport Avenue on the street without a time limit. There are also many privately owned pay parking lots.
Dharma Center is upstairs in the back left corner of the gray building with white trim.
We share the office building with Bud’s Ice Cream Shop and South Beach Bar & Grill.
Go through the gates next to the ice cream shop and
into the courtyard, up a flight of stairs, enjoy the ocean view,
then go through the upstairs courtyard and up a few more steps.
PLEASE NOTE: We are in an older building and there is no elevator to our meditation hall. We apologize for any inconvenience. For students with mobility issues, please check the calendar for online classes.
Lodging
If you are planning a trip to San Diego and would like to attend classes at Dharma Center we recommend these hotels:
Ocean Beach Hotel, which is literally across the street from our center! It is a beautifully renovated hotel and is dog friendly.
The Inn At Sunset Cliffs is about a mile from Dharma Center. It is an ocean front hotel that has great sunset views where you can enjoy watching surfers catch popular south swells.
Many inexpensive hotels can be found in Mission Valley along the 8 freeway. Resort-style hotels are located on Mission Bay and in La Jolla.
